The Glastonbury Festival is a five-day music festival of contemporary performing arts, which takes place near Pilton, Somerset. This year Glastonbury will be held from the 22nd June to 26th June 2016.
Glastonbury tickets are always in high demand. Although predominantly a contemporary music festival, Glastonbury also hosts dance, comedy, theatre, circus, cabaret, and other arts. Leading pop and rock artists usually headline the festival, alongside thousands of others appearing on smaller stages and performance areas. The films and albums recorded at Glastonbury are always popular, as is the extensive television and newspaper coverage that the festival receives. Glastonbury is the largest green field festival in the world, and is now attended by around 175,000 people, requiring massive infrastructure in terms of security, transport, water, and electricity supply. The majority of staff are volunteers, helping the festival to raise millions of pounds for good causes. Glastonbury is held every year, except for "fallow years" taken every five years, which is intended to give the land, local population, and organisers/volunteers, a break.
